What’s Included

These plans cover everything you need to build the breadbox from rough lumber through final finish. The PDF includes a full cut list, dimensioned drawings, and step-by-step build notes.

Build Overview

The case is built with rabbets and dados for the main box construction. The doors are made with half-lap joints for a strong, but thin door. The doors are routed to fit glass panes to see into the bread box for an elegant look into your carbohydrate vault. The shelf size is deep enough to hold full-sized burrito tortillas or the larger loaves of bread at the store. The slide-out cutting board makes the perfect addition with a blend of function and fashion. The box is designed to fit under all standard kitchen cabinets.

Notes

  • The choice of hardwood is your own; make a statement piece for your kitchen or match existing furniture.
  • Cherry and Padauk will darken significantly over the first few months of light exposure; consider this when choosing your finish.
  • This build will require a thickness planer, table saw (with dado stack), miter saw, and router. (It can be completed without these tools, but the difficulty will increase to advanced.)
